I can't see my friends on my xbox app and can't play with them on my xbox

When I went on my xbox app, it said that I don't have any friends and I couldn't see any of them. Then I went on my xbox and I could see my friends, but when I tried to play fortnite, it said that none of my friends were on and I couldn't invite them from
the game.

Friends not showing up online.

I've been having this issue for about a year or so now. I've tried to get Xbox Support to help with no success. Basically I can't see a hand handful of my friends when they are online. Not on my Xbox OR on my account in the "Friends" section, not even using
the Xbox app on my phone. My account is set to online and non of my friends are set to "Appear Offline." I can't invite anyone to an active game (because I can't see them online, nor will my Xbox let me even though they are online), but friends can invite
me (friends can see that I am online).

I don't think this an issue with they way my Xbox is set up because I can't see friends are online both on Xbox or on xbox.com in the "Friends" section. I think has something to do with my account.

I'm currently experiencing the same when using the Xbox App so this could be something on Xbox Live and not on your end.

It's not showing on the service status page though, so it is best to try some standard troubleshooting first.

First thing to try is the manual power cycle via the steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering on again:

After the power cycle be sure to run a network test too, to see if that shows any issues.

I haven't been able to see my friends list on xbox.com in a very long time and now I notice that about half the time I can't see them on the xbox app on my pc. Also doesn't seem to update activity feed very well. The graphics works off and on.

 

just spent the last 2/3 hrs trying to fix this issue assuming it was my problem, either it wont log in with 0xbba error code or logs in with no friend list or lfg

 

One of the Microsoft Datacenters is experiencing a major outage at the moment

 

I didn't power cycle or change settings. It happens intermittently so that must mean its a system problem. I saw earlier today that the "store" was having problems. Now the app is working.
