I can't redeem my free 30 day gold trial.

You don't have any sort of a free trial attached to your account. If you were offered a 30 day trial on the console dashboard you'll need to add a payment method in order to take advantage of it.

If you redeemed a trial code like a 2 day or 14 day trial, or even a 30 day trial code from a redemption card then you wouldn't need any sort of payment details. The 2 day/14 day card doesn't give you gold status but lets you play online for the stated days
(2 or 14 days, depending on what you redeemed), or 30 days (which will give you gold status) if you redeemed it from a gold subscription card.

Actually, you have to enter your billing information in there (credit card) in order to redeem the 30 day free trial. You can create a new account and do the same steps but include a billing information. It should let you redeem the 30 day free trial.

Thank you but no thanks. I used one of my free 30 day Gold trials on the console so I am Golden for now.

I am not sure if Gold Membership will stack with the free 30 day trial. My trial ends the 28th of May the 1 dollar membership was there then disappeared after about 10 days and now its back. I think this is standard pratice.

I'm having the same problem. When I view subscriptions on my son's box, it shows xbox live gold, 30-day free trial, but when he invites one of his friends to a party it tells him he needs an xbox gold membership. What was the free trial for?
