it says (you cant aquire this item in your currently selected language. Change your Language Region in Settings, or go to microsoft.com//redeem.)

I have the same issue.... I contacted Microsoft, they said

"It shows that there are a subset of accounts who can't use or redeem prepaid codes.

We apologize for the inconvenience and disruption in service you're experiencing.

We are currently doing a system enhancement to allow new and improved system features to sync and function. We have already reported this to our higher management to get this issue resolve immediately."

I've been having this problem since before Christmas. Support keeps coming back with the same answer that they're having technical problems and that they're working "around the clock" on it...

As I said, already tried changing region and language on xbox, but dosen't work.

If I try to redeem on microsoft.com/redeem its says germany after my email adress even if I changed my country to uk, strange.

"The code was damaged or corrupt" and listed letters and numbers that arent supposed to be in codes. (my code was fine) but i cant redeem it on uk or U.S whenever i change my account region (the game was gifted to me by a friend in the U.S)
