I can't really change my background picture.

are you trying to change the background picture on the Xbox app or from the console itself?

try to press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide, and then select Profile & System > Settings > General > Personalisation > My background.

then try to Copy a JPG or PNG file that you want to use to a USB device, and then plug it into your Xbox.

On your Xbox, select Customised image. A dialogue box appears that shows the contents of your console and attached USB device.

Select the USB device, and then choose your image.

You can also set a customised image as your background while using the Microsoft Edge app on an Xbox console. To do so, find any image you like within the Microsoft Edge app, move the browser pointer over that image, select the Menu button  and then Set as background.

No it won't tried it a dozen times background still blank

NO it did not help... we are not asking HOW! to do it were telling you its NOT working, My background color will not change from just blask, I have already reset my series X but still not working, please help or at least give me a # to call you guys.

Hi Todd, I have the exact same problem, I KNOW HOW to change the background color but it just doesn't work? All I can find is how to do it but I already know how.... I already reset my Series X yet still just a black background. Hoping you found a solution?? If so PLEASE let me know lol its driving me nuts! Forget about trying to talk to an actual person at Microsoft.... Thanks in advance.

Having a problem today with my dashboard where I can't see any tile pics or gamer pictures and can't change background or tile colours, just get a message saying can't display any colours at the moment, any ideas??
