I can’t play online multiplayer with Xbox 360 games on Xbox one

I just was recently able to get my hands on a disc of black ops one and after downloading it I tried to play online multiplayer and even though I had Xbox Live I couldn’t play online which is extremely annoying. Maybe it’s has something to do with the fact
that I don’t have live for 360, I just really want to solve this issue and I don’t know if Microsoft tech support will be able to help me.

XBOX backwards compatibility

So I was just wondering, say if I owned a backwards compatible Xbox 360 game, if I went on multiplayer for that game on the Xbox One, would I be able to play online with people who own the game for Xbox One? Or can I still only play online with others who
own the game on 360?

Uhmm i just bought an xbox live gold membership on my xbox 360 and I still can’t play online.

First try a hard reset of your xbox. If that does not work deleting and re downloading your profile might also work. Lastly after a google search it also seems ports might cause an issue. Xbox One Network Ports | Xbox Live Network Ports

Xbox live gold will work on 360 if you have it on your one account.

You need to have Xbox Live Gold, and also need to check If Xbox live Status is having any trouble with that game

There may be a profile on her Xbox that has an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Live Gold which is being shared to her which is why she can play online multiplayer.

Since she only have Xbox Game Pass for Console that’s the reason why you can’t play online multiplayer.
