    You could just stay away from certain modding sites that tell you this kind of story works to get a free change.

    Those sites will just end up getting you a ban in the long run.

    I let messages like that go in one ear and out the rubber. I can mess with them back or just block/ignore and very rarely report. Thicken your skin and do as advised and things should be OK.

    I set my xbox live communication settings to "FRIENDS ONLY" many years ago and it was the best decision I ever made as an online gamer.

    Yeah, if you get hate, just block, mute and report the people bugging you. It may be annoying, but I love it when people talk trash and be all offensive, that way I can report them. :D

    But seriously, block, mute and report them and you should be fine.

    Also, the hate messages will gradually slow down soon enough, so I wouldn't worry about changing your name.
