I cant login to xbox live via my microsoft account or through minecraft PC

My Minecraft java account on PC was recently hacked, we now have security of our Microsoft account but we cannot login to Xbox live. Every time we try to sign in on xbox.com, it redirects us to the Xbox homepage, and when we try to sign in to Minecraft, it says we are unable to sign in to Xbox live. Can this problem be solved by Microsoft or is it solely a Xbox problem? If we also try to access the Xbox account through the Microsoft account, it it tells us why we cant change the privacy settings. Surely we should be able to access the Xbox live account if we have the Microsoft account? Does anyone have a similar situation?
