I can't join my friend's realm or any online games

When I try to join my friend's realm it says my game needs updated. When I try updating my game from the Microsoft Store, it says nothing needs updating. It doesn't let me uninstall the game to re-download it. I'm not sure what else to do. Please send
support.

I did it, and still can't join my realm. Not even my friends can join my realm.

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand you are unable to join a friend in Minecraft. We recommend for you and your friend to check what version you are on. If either of you had the beta, it is possible one is on version 1.13 as the beta was updated
to that. You can also check on the
Minecraft forums for assistance.

You can join realms in mincraft pe, but my friend can't join in any server for some reason.

The cross play of Minecraft works as such,

The PC/MAC is separate from the other versions in terms of cross-play. As in the only way to join a game with console or mobile players (or Windows 10) is to play on a realm.

Console (Xbox and PS), Mobile and Windows 10 will all work without needing realms as long as your friends are online or on the same network as yourself.

It is only the PC/MAC version of the game that will require you to use realms to join each others game.

But his friends are on Xbox One edition and my son has the newest minecraft. Apparently they can't play together because they're on different versions?? That's what I'm trying to determine. They're not trying to join realms.

are you an insider by any chance? i have a realm that im playing on with my friends and when i joined the insider beta i couldnt connect to my realm, hope this helps
