Or try this. Try clearing the cache and then reinstall the game bro.
Put your finger on the start button of the console for 10 seconds until it goes out.
Then wait another 30 and turn it on again.
After trying this, reinstall the game.
It may work for you .

I would look at getting you friend to get her/his NAT setting open

another issue is that your friend may have content you haven't got, in some games that could cause the block in joining

Is it a world you're joining or a realm?

The realm should work bit ive fou d a lot of worlds i cant join possibly region specific.

Another reason for this error (one I have personally dealt with in the past) is that Minecraft needs an update. If game versions don't match, you won't be able to connect to the world.
