I can't install a game on the Xbox app.

I'm trying to install Modern Warfare 2(2022) before I buy it. I thought you could do that on the Xbox app to where you can install the game, then when you buy it it's already installed. When I try it just says waiting on XBOXONE. Can you not install pre purchase or is there something wrong?

The games don't show up in the apps list. I can't cancel or download the games through the Microsoft Store, it requires me to install said games through the Xbox app (game pass games). I tried wsreset, but it didn't resolve the issue, as the 2 games still show up as ready to install, and I can't do anything except view the installs in the Xbox app

It must be a broken update i think.. because on my side nothing has changed after this 2 days.

Agreed. Anyway, I got provided with a workaround today that at least lets me use the app properly now:

1. Click on Windows Button -> Settings -> Apps, in the list go to Xbox and click Uninstall

2. Again in the windows settings, go to Time and Language (freely translated from "Zeit und Sprache" in my German windows 10 version, might be actually called a bit different in the real english version). On Date & Time (Datum & Uhrzeit) turn OFF the automatic clock and time zone settings. Choose a manual time.

3. On the list on the left, choose Region, which should be just below Date & Time. There, switch Land or Region from your country (in my case Germany) to United States (Vereinigte Staaten).

4. Open the Microsoft Store and install the Xbox App. Now run and test it.

5. If it works now, you can turn region back to your country and turn on the automated time again.

This worked for me. I have no more of those weird freezes after a short while or when installing games. The customer service said they are having problems with the installations on some regions, so you have to use that workaround for now.

If you try to remote install the game, it's going to ask you to purchase once the install ends.

I say this in case you're trying to get a free trial, remotely install the game is not going to work

If you want to proceed , double check if your Xbox console energy option is set to "standby"
