I leave mine in standby I like the benefits of automatic updates which you can't get if it's completely off

I never even played the game that it was updating off of, and I can't even get to the dashboard screen to delete anything.

As soon I turn it on and it goes past the xbox 360 screen it goes right to the Update stopped screen and shows the status code and it does nothing.

Thanks for trying but the problem may be deeper.

I simply can't access the xbox menu. Every time I start the console, I have this *** update which is automatically starting and I'm stuck there.

I also filed an appeal and now it's been stuck saying this same message for months which is clearly a glitch or malfunction that should be fixed and I can't resubmit an appeal because the enforcement action won't load or show up, the appeal won't show up, it doesn't show a decision, just "Sorry, we can't get notifications right now. Try again later." And can't get anyone to help or answer.

You are making the assumption that always on always connected means that you have to have a connection in order to play games. As lostkauz said, it could just mean that patches and updates will just get installed automatically so that you won't have to wait.
People need to stop making assumptions until we get actual facts on the subject
