I can't find my friend's gamertag and he has an active account. Is this due to ...

I am trying to find my friend's gamertag. He spelled it out for me so I know what it is supposed to be exactly, however when I search for it, it doesn't come up. His account is active and he can sign into Live. Could this be a security or privacy setting
issue? What other issues might cause me to not be able to find him when I search gamertags? How can I add him otherwise?

Gold Sharing Problem

My friend's account is the home xbox account and he has gold, and I used to have gold now I don't have gold yet he still the home Xbox account and still has gold why is that I can't play online when he still has gold?

 

Xbox Account is Appearing on other Friends's xbox 360s's Without Permisson. HELP!

Excuse me i am having trouble with my xbox live account. Me and my friend live in the same neighborhood and he has been to my house and put his account on my xbox. A few days later my account appeared on his xbox without me or him signing it in on his xbox
at his house. He deleted it off but everytime either of us sign in it says "profile signed in else where'. Another weird thing is that another person that we both know attends the same school as us and has an xbox 360. Yesterday he contacted us on my first
friend's xbox account on his on xbox 360. I was online on my account and he was online off of my first friend's account. The thing is that he has never been to either me or my first friend's house and he had both my own first friend's xbox account on his own
360 console. He told us that the same thing has happened to one of his friends but we all don't understand why this is happening. If anyone can help or if this has happened to you please comment or help answer this forum post. Thank you.

 

You should always be able to see the gamertag, regardless of privacy settings, you just won't be able to see the account online etc.

Out of curiosity, have you seen the gamertag before on the Live service? Is it possible your friend is mistaking an I for an L for example?

I believe you should always be able to find a current gamertag through here, regardless of privacy settings:
account.xbox.com/Friends

 

Yea i am having the same problem, and i got his gamertag from his house when i was playing his console. When i search for it it is not founded anywhere.

Are you able to find your Gamertag from your friends account? Be sure to try DigitalAssassin's suggestion as well!

 

i am having the same issue, my friends wrote out their names and going on the app(windows 10) or the android app, neither will the online website, so how can i get there names, when i gave them mine there have the same issue, what can i do?

Exact spelling and spaces and caps is important so

Gamertag is nothing the same as gamertag or Gamer TAg
