i cant/don't know how to take a capture or a screenshot

I don't know how to take a capture or a screenshot it says to tap the xbox button twice yhen press Y and it will save it but nothing happens

To take a screenshot you should be able to double tap the Guide button then press Y. For a clip you can always double tap the Guide button and open an app then choose Game DVR. If you select End Clip you can record up the the last 5 minutes of game play.

As for your current issue, have you tried power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds until it shuts down to see if that helps?

And I do see that you have a Gold membership and do play online.

Could be that you've turned of in game notifications, or that your hard drive is full. Also I believe you need to be online to use the feature and have a gold account.

If you can check all those boxes then we can look at other options.

 

If you double-tap the Xbox button, does the left-hand menu pop up? At the top (overlaid on the game itself) there should be two lines saying you can hit Y for a screenshot and X for a video. Do you see that? You need to double-tap first, then when the menu
has popped up you can hit either X or Y.

Alternatively, you could use voice commands if you have either a Kinect or headset connected. By default, the command is "Hey Cortana, record that".
