I can't believe that Microsoft selling 4GB consoles!

I bought one ! and now i cant play non of my games.. why?! i'll tell you why.. because there requirements are 10GB of space! and how much i have? 4!

and now i need to buy Hard Drive that costs like an OZ of gold?!

20GB 25$ (without shipment )

well thank you Microsoft for letting me know that i will need more than 4GB!

Sorry to hear that your Xbox 360 console has died.

The red ring of death only happend on the fat / 1st gen 360 console.

This console was sold between end of 2005 til may or june 2010.

This means your console is somewere from 7 to 12 years old (from production).

For me it's quite normal that warranty doesn't last this long.

24 months of warranty is a common thing in Europe, but that's about it.

Sorry to say but for me it feels that the tech was right about the warranty thing, never the less he should never be disrespectful (if he did!).

Also sorry to hear that you're planning a move to Playstation.

Keep in mind that Sony also has a limited warranty and you could endup in a situation like this as well.

I have been an avid Xbox fan for years I have the original system the 360 and the one started getting the red ring of death on 360 Consol I called Xbox support the guy flat out told me he had never heard of the red ring of death lol told me it was out
of warranty and the only thing he could do was send a tech out to replace the 360 for 99.99 I can get it cheaper at GameStop with a longer warranty The tech was rude disrespectful and condescending I can't believe it Microsoft I love the system I standby

There isn't a 20gb hard drive for the 360s,only 250gb or 320gb. If your thinking of buying a 3rd party hard drive then don't,it will cause you no end of problems & you still wont be able to play a lot of games.

You need an official Microsoft hard drive.

 

It is stated on many of the newer games that storage is required. Although the sales of 4GB consoles is running on flawed logic, it's definitely a great example of why researching a console before buying is key.

 

A good cheap alternative to buying a HDD is to buy a USB flash drive. The 360 supports up to a 32GB flash drive. The only drawback is some games(Battlefield 4 most notably) do not support installs to flash drives.

 

Required instalss such as those for need for speed rivals BF4 and Titanfall360 can only be installed onto a harddrive and not flash memory

 

Microsoft should send me one

 

No you should have researched the console choice before purchasing.

 

Of course it is they sell a 4gb Arcade console or the y sell a console with a 250gb console and you bought the chearper option

 

In fairness to the thread author, some retailers don't explain the difference very well. Fortunately buying a HDD from a trusted source will solve the issues here, however this does fall under consumer responsibility. Sorry, I know that may not be the news

Next time you just have to do some research before buying. Sorry that this has happened to you, but live and learn I believe the saying is.

 

I have 2 360's with no HDD in them I bought off eBay. I use a couple of old flash drives instead and they seem to work great. I've only played a couple of games on those though so I don't know what game installs might be restricted.

 

Going back to what Cloud said, retailers can sometimes hold some responsibility for not properly explaining the consequences of buying the cheaper console but it does always come down to lack of consumer research.

As I say, these games do state on the box that storage is required so it isn't completely hidden. You aren't entitled to any free storage from Microsoft at all as you went out and willingly paid for the 4GB consoles. If I went to a store and saw a difference
like 4GB and 250GB, I would question the difference and it's reasoning before spending any more, learn from your mistakes and hopefully in future you will have better experiences.

 

Here's a way of looking at it; If McDonalds sell a meal for £4 but you buy just the burger and drink to a total of £3.50, are you entitled to get free fries because you lost out by choosing the cheaper option? No. You are expected to pay the full price which
means you have to pay more in the long run, but you have yourself to blame for not properly looking in to the benefits of getting the meal in the first place.
