i cannot use my profile

If you do not have an active Xbox Live Gold account, you will not be able to play online multiplayer games.

Players receive this message for one of three reasons:

1. You do not have an active Xbox Live Gold account, which is required to play multiplayer games online.
   Sign up for an Xbox Live Gold account.
2. Your Xbox Live Gold account expired.
   Visit your Xbox Live account to renew your Xbox Live Gold subscription.
3. Your Xbox Live Gold account was recently renewed. Please allow up to 24 hours for Microsoft to process your transaction.

Normally if your xbox live gold subscription has run out it will take you to a page to purchase a gold subscription this error sounds more like you online safety settings is set to not allow multiplayer games.

If you follow solution 2 on this website https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/security/cannot-change-my-privacy-settings it will give you an option to allow multiplayer and should fix your issue.

I finally received a code but now it doesnt accept it. I got a 7 digit cancellation code to back out of the security hiccup and I just get the little please wait dots and no message.

OK so if you have access to the security proof (where they want to send the verification code to) then go to account.live.com/addassocid and that should allow you to either add a new email (outlook.com) or an existing email that you have that is not associated
with Microsoft.

Did you try resetting your connection info to default? If you have and still don't work I suggest contacting xbox support Us number is 1800 4 my xbox.
