I cannot use my MONEY in the microsoft account to purchase xbox live gold membership

The title says it all I believe. This is the most insulting thing ever. I have about $40 on my account and ALL I want to do is get a 3 month live subscription. I do not wish to purchase any new games or content but simply to play online the games I already
own. I will not pay with my credit card when I have money in the account!!! please help xbox support. I am hoping this is just a small glitch and not microsoft's actual intention.(which is quite close to theft)

Sorry, but it's not possible to purchase gold with the currency in your account. It's not set up to be used for a recurring subscription. Gold can only be purchased with a credit card/Paypal or by purchasing a prepaid gold card in a store.

 

i have the same problem, and i cant understand why microsoft would do something like that it makes things so dificult. I hope they would change it so that you can pruchase a gold membership pass with the money in your microsoft account.

 

it is not difficault at all all you have to do is read the terms and conditions of the 3month purchase

its a renewable subscription which means you actually have to have a creditcard or a renewable payment option

no service allows you to use server currency for subscriptions as subscriptions by definition requires a renewable payment option

if you want pay as you go service you weill have to deal with the inconvience of running to the store for a code

dashboard subscriptions will always require autorenewal

 

this is not new as most services have clear prepaid and billing options

prepaid usually costs more

 

@op how is it theft?

first and foremost you are clearly told it is a subscription when buying from a dashboard

2nd all PREPAID currency and gift cards do state only for DLC and games and music NOT FOR SUBSCRIPTIONS

nor is it legal tender for subscriptions as clearly defined by subscriptions requiring renewable payment

maybe you should start reading your purchases before you buy if that's an issue

subscription cards are rarely on sale ms points nor currency has never been allowed to buy subscriptions no game allows currency to be used for subscription when they have prepaid subscription options

 

if you don't want a creditcard on file its simple buy a prepaid subscription card

yes dashboard deals are clearly stated they must have autorenewal on and a renewalble billing account

 

It's the exact same way the Microsoft Points worked. I don't understand why it's so difficult for people to understand that.

maybe then lions rage read before you buy

currency and prepaid points cards cannot be used for memberships on any platform as stated on the card itself

only prepaid memberships are prepaid

 

that is the same with phone plans there is prepaid and there is billing

if you want prepaid you go prepaid but deal with the prepaid costs

if you want the cheap and convience of autobilling you buy billing accounts

this isn't rocket science

the prepaid cards are clearly labeled even prepaid membership cards are still available

 

I hate how you can't do this
