I cannot play minecraft multiplayer even though it is enabled in my xbox settings

Keichi, with the error you are getting it means that the system has detected that you own a child account.

Because when it was created a child account was saved on its birthdate.

Even if there will be changes on the birthdate the system will still recognize the first birthdate that's on the account.

But there is no need for you to worry because there is a way for the account to act like an adult.

And that is through adding a parent account/ organizer account.

Also, I noticed that going back to an earlier version, like 1.70, the multiplayer feature seems to work.

It may mean that it's the launcher itself. You can repair it by following the steps below:

Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Search for the app > Advanced Options > Repair.
