I cannot login to my Microsoft account on The Master Chief collection on Steam.

Hello, I've tried for about 2 hours trying to find a solution to this and was wondering if there is anyway to fix it. I recently downloaded Halo: The Master Chief collection on steam and made a new Microsoft account to start from scratch. I am logged in with the account on the windows store, the xbox app, as well as this very website. I get to the sign in screen but it tells me that my account does not exist, and that I should make a new one. Confused, I click create a new account and put my email, and it tells me the account already exists. I've tried signing into my PC with the windows account but it did not work. I feel like if I want to play I'll have to create yet another account, which I do not want to do because of the gamertag I currently have.

Hello, I managed to fix this by deleting an xbox live registry in windows, thus resetting the log in when trying to launch the game. The registry re-made itself when I started the game again and was able to log in.

Sorry you are having issues playing the Master Chief Collection on Steam. You said you created a new account, was it when you started the game? Did you check to see if you got an email to confirm your new account? I also have to ask -- did you restart your PC after going through these issues?

As an alternative, in the future, you can play Halo the Master Chief Collection and other 1st party games including Halo Infinite and 3rd party games via Game Pass for PC or Game Pass Ultimate. It's a part of the Master Chief Collection, as an add-on, so you'll need to install the Master Chief Collection and access it from there. It's not a stand-alone title.

Did you install via the Windows 10 Store or Steam or for Xbox?

To link a new Microsoft account with Steam's MCC (Master Chief Collection), you can follow these steps:

Launch the Steam client on your computer and log in to your Steam account.

In the top-left corner, click on the "Steam" menu and select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.

In the Settings window, click on the "Account" tab.

Under the "Account" tab, locate the "Click here to view your Microsoft account details" link and click on it.

A web browser window will open, taking you to the Microsoft account page. If you're not already signed in to a Microsoft account, sign in with your existing account or create a new one.

Once signed in, you'll be asked to authorize the connection between Steam and your Microsoft account. Review the permissions and click on "Yes" or "Accept."

After granting permission, you'll be redirected back to Steam.

In the Steam client, go to your game library and find Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Right-click on the game and select "Properties" from the dropdown menu.

In the Properties window, click on the "Local Files" tab.

Click on the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" button to ensure your game files are up to date.

Once the verification is complete, close the Properties window.

Launch Halo: The Master Chief Collection from your Steam library.

You'll be prompted to sign in with your Microsoft account. Enter your credentials for the newly linked Microsoft account and sign in.

After signing in, you should be able to access your game progress and features associated with the Microsoft account within the Steam version of MCC.
