I cannot install optional update KB5004476

Follow these steps, if one doesn't work, move on to the other.

1. Press Windows Key + i and go to apps, search for ''gaming services'' click ''advanced options'' and then ''terminate, repair and reset. Try starting the game again.

2. Launch PowerShell as an administrator and enter

“get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers”

Restart your PC, open PowerShell as admin again, and enter

“start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN”

The Microsoft Store will open and ask to install Gaming Services, install. Then try starting the game again.

I no longer get the option "optional update".

Tried downloading and installing this one manually found here:

But it says that this update is not applicable for this PC

I have had the same issue as above.

I have gone to that folder that you listed above on my computer and all 3 files are there already.

I have tried manually downloading the KB5004476 for the same system as the original question but it says the update is not compatible and will not download.

Not sure what to do now..

Hi there Stayner! Christopher here, an Xbox fan and been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. I've been dealing with this issue for 2 months and I've finally been able to get this update to install. It wasn't an easy process, and It was difficult to find the file in question that caused these problems.

Basically, I downloaded a .bat file to create logs of failed updates, and it gave me a log file that told me a file called "nvraid.inf" was missing, and was causing the update process to stop. Apparently this is a driver file from NVidia that has allows you to set up your storage in RAID. The directory it should have been in was "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nvraid.inf_amd64_144351277838b429", but the file and the folder itself were missing. What I had to do was get a friend to go into their FileRepository folder and send me all the contents of the nvraid.inf_amd64_144351277838b429 folder. Turns out there were 3 files that were missing instead of 1 which I initially thought. Those being nvraid.inf, nvraid.sys, and nvstor.sys. After putting the files and folders where they all should go, I updated my PC and it finally installed.

Alright. Let's try this

Select the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Settings.

Select Update & Security > Check for updates.

Select View optional updates, and then select update KB5004476 from the list.

Select Download and install.

Once the update is complete, restart your device.

You should now be able to install, update, and launch games.
