I cannot download XBOX360 games for my son offered on Games With Gold

I joined (well, I bought it under son's name since it is for HIM)( XBox Gold when I got my son his XBox One this summer.

Pirates of the Caribbean came up as an offered game and I was pumped as it was one of 3 LEGO games he did NOT have on his home PC. I could not anything I tried on XBOX or website get to download/redeem that game. Nothing worked. I have ADHD and procrastinate
especially thinking of difficulty of phone support. I told myself it was likely that the XBOX360 offerings were free only for XBOX360 consols and ONEs for ONEs.

Month later, had an issue unable to sign onto EA for SW Battlefield with son. Long story short - that is STILL the case, never got past that yet. Will save for a later day as he isn't all that interested in game - bought it for him since was $6 and a SW
title. While speaking to the helpful MS agent, I mentioned my problem of couple weeks back with LEGO Pirates. He said no, I should be able to DL even 360 games. Her said it was too late to fix my issue and get Alex his LEGO Pirates since window passed.

Another game appeared for that month and tried it when it came up. Forgot what it was - same problem. Didn't care about that game anyhow so forgot about it.

Now, BattleField 3 came up - I own that one and I wanted to see him try it on XBOX since was "Free". Same problem. Basically it says "See price" -> Click -> Screen comes saying how it is FREE with backward compatibility and I hit Continue -> Couple blinks
on the XBOX and see:

"Sorry

Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com. Please complete this transaction from your Xbox."

I AM ON THE XBOX Under his account.

I again gave him all the permissions in the world with no content restrictions even ability to buy using my CC (for the moment!) and nope. Same thing. Couldn't do it on website either. After loooong convo with phone support he had me walk through all, he
is guessing that while he can download any content for XBOX ONE regardless of maturity level - there is some "XBOX360 dashboard" that doesn't seem to work - perhaps because he is a minor (10yo). BUT - I was also (see above) stopped from getting Lego Pirates
so it must be a software bug not a content choice. Maybe simply being a minor prevents his loading the XBOX360 compat/buy screen?

Because the support person couldn't give me a code he asked me to buy ANOTHER XBox Gold account - this time for me (we are on FAMILY account) and he would refund my money after installing if it worked. I don't play on XBOX, the few times I have any time
to "play" I get on my PC. Other than 2playering LEGO Dimensions with him

Once I had Gold, I could buy it on WEB page (funny - said I must do on the XBOX, not WEB in message...) - we downloaded it. I logged in as me and tried playing. Worked. I logged in as him after logging me out and it worked for his account. I STILL could
not when logged in as him order it on today's last day of Free BF3. So when my gold expires next month (I bought HIM a full year), it will probably "go away."

This seems a terrible bug for the young folks especially when the game is aimed at them like LEGO ones. I feel it is unfair I paid for XBOX LIVE, partially after seeing that good games like LEGO games were available for him and turns out I couldnt get it
to work and because that week(s) passed, I could not longer download the game for him.

Now, it just keeps happening with every new XBOX360 GwG offering.

Can anyone at MS please contact me via email to discuss? Please mail to Varsuuk user (if you can look it up, starts with etartarus) - which is me. If not, email this account's email (my little boy's) because I look at his emails as well, just not regularly.

Hoping this can be resolved. ESPECIALLY hoping after you find it is an actual bug, that you consider gifting him (through GWG even) the Lego Pirates of the Carribean game his missed out on.

Deals With Gold

I went on the Xbox website and games for gold section is only listing Xbox one games. I cannot see the xbox360 games for gold
Anyone else

 

Free October 2015 Games on Gold a Waste of Time and Effort

This month's games on Xbox Live Gold for 360 users has been a total waste of time and download data.

The first part of the month offered Metal Gear: Solid - which turns out to only be a small part of the full game.

The second game on offer was The Walking Dead - full season. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't download it because "it is not supported in my region". Further investigation by consulting with a support centre, I found out that you have to actually own
the first season already in order to benefit from this free game download. Are you kidding me???

Firstly I cannot find the game to download and if I manage to find it, I cannot download it. How stupid Xbox. I'm so disappointed.

Please make better decisions in future with the games you offer for free to the members that have paid for the service you have offered.

You cannot offer free games when they don't come free or form part of a game as a whole. This is ridiculous that I cannot make use of a service I've paid for.

 

Due to restrictions on child accounts, child accounts can only download the content on a 360 console. Any settings you change will only affect the Xbox One store and not the 360 store.

 

Yes, I found that out on last call.

So basically, Gold tells me it OFFERS XBox360 games for my child monthly free but he just CAN'T get them "sorry."

So, now the list is Lego Pirates of the Carribean and Rayman that he wished he could get. Also BF3 I wanted to play with him, still available now but still cannot get.

Not unless (according to the nice woman online who couldn't help me) I find someone to log on a 360 to do it under HIS account. I know no such persons.

I assume this is being "worked on" as I was told but it has been this way since the start of offering 360 to One users so I am guessing that once my year of Gold is done, if he wants an upgraded console - I will be looking at what PS# they are up to so we
do not get continuous monthly "insult to injury" seeing the Free (but not available to YOU) game offered.

Please make sure you warn parents who buy Gold for kids that this is the case so others not as disappointed (or know to go elsewhere.)

If you are using a Child or Teen account you would need to make the purchase on an Xbox 360 console. Then you'll be able to download the game from the

Ready to Install section on the Xbox One console.
