    I cannot chat with my xbox one stereo headset and do not know why


    I have two headsets my turtle beaches have a partially broken speaker. i can chat on those no matter either the controller or the adapter. I recently bought the xbox one stereo headset. I can hear everything and everyone in the party. I have updated my controller
    and everything. Yet I cannot talk at all to anyone. My mic works on a computer I can talk and everything on it. Yet it wont work in a controller and I have no idea why.

    Party Chat cannot hear audio

    First, the reason I posted this under Xbox One console is because I swapped my accessories with my son's and they work on his xbox one and his accessories didn't work on mine. so the issue is not chat adapter, controller or headset

    Xbox one original controller, stereo headset adapter and headset and I can hear in game chat but as soon as I connect to party chat, they can hear me but I cannot hear them. I tried the original headset that comes with the xbox one and it worked so I figured
    it was the stereo adapter. so I purchased a new stereo adapter and have the same issue. so I purchased a new controller with 3.5mm jack. I have the same issue. but if I use my headset connected to the 3.5mm jack on the new controller party chat works fine,
    but doesn't work connected to stereo adapter (and I tried 2) So I thought I would try on my sons xbox one (we have 2 xbox ones in the house) so we swapped headsets , controllers and stereo adapters and I had the same problem on my xbox one. whereas his was
    working fine (and he was using my controller, headset and adapter) So it would seem to be an issue with my console, that is the only hardware difference. any ideas?

    sorry to hear you are running into these problems. What type of headset is this? Do you know if any other headsets work on your controller?

    The mic that came with the Xbox one works. My adapter chat button makes the game volume higher. Is it suppose to be like that?

    And congratulation on the new Xbox :) . If memory serves me correct, Xbox Ones are shipped with a small mono

    Chat Headset     that has an adapter attached to it and can only work with and be plugged into an Xbox One controller. However, the newer Xbox One

    Wireless Controllers     also have a 3.5mm jack and any compatible stereo headset with a microphone should work fine. We have two of the

    Xbox One Stereo Headset     and both work very well. In deed, they are probably the best stereo gaming headset you can get for the money (about $60US). Also, it comes with its own

    Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter     . Unlike the Chat Headset, the Xbox One
    Stereo Headset     has a 3.5mm jack and can be plugged directly into the controller. I've even used my Xbox stereo headset with my phone. However, the Xbox One

    Stereo Headset Adapter     has buttons for game/chat balance, volume and the all important mute. So, I recommend using the stereo headset with its adapter. If you do that, there really isn't any setup. Just plug it in and start playing. But, if you do plug
    a headset directly into the controller via 3.5mm jack, the Xbox will automatically makes Headset volume, Headset chat volume and Mic monitoring settings available right at the > Settings menu directly off the Home page/menu (kind of cool isn't it). Make sure
    the Headset mic is set to On.
