I cannot cancel auto-renewal or remove the payment method

- The card that was previously used months ago no longer exists.

- I cannot remove that card because it tells me to cancel auto-renewal or use a new payment method

- i cannot cancel auto-renewal because it is not listed as having auto-renewal set

- i cannot add a card because it tells me the new card is already on the account (which it is, but its listed on the subscription payment options)

- I cannot purchase a new subscription with a new card because it tells me to delete the previous one or cancel auto-renewal.

- repeat ad infinitum.

my live account ends in a couple days.

i need to solve this.

how do i get rid of this defunct card, which cant seem to be removed and is not being used for auto-renewal?

Problems with my XBox Live Account, can't add or delete Payment Cards.

Have you tried adding/removing payment methods on the console? What, if any, error message/code do you get here? Also, you cannot remove a payment method if it is tied to a current LIVE Gold subscription. You'd need to either wait for it to finish or replace
it with another payment method (remember to call phone support to cancel auto renewal if want to wait it out).

 

Error code 8C010003

Haven: You cannot remove your payment method while it is attached to an active LIVE subscription. You can call phone support (support.xbox.com/contact-us) to cancel auto renewal, and then when
the subscriptions runs out, you can remove the card.

 

edit - i meant to say that the new card is not listed on the subscription payment options.

only the old card is listed. attempting to add a new card just says that the card has already been associated with the account

no auto-renewal cancel option is listed anywhere. i do recall cancelling it ages ago and ive since been using up a couple prepaid cards i was given as a gift.
