I can hear chat (party and community), but intermittently I can't hear any chat

My headset only works in party chat. When I'm playing other games I can see that people are talking but I can't hear them and they can't hear me. It only works in party chat.

Thanks a lot for the reply but I dont think this is the issue.

so my buddy and i both have xbox and we usually just use party chat and we communicate fine there.

when we switch to game chat however, we can hear eachother anymore. And when we have a third player in game chat that player can hear the both of us but my buddy and i still cant hear/communicate eachother.

does that make sense?

so essentialy we have to be in party chat to communicate.

This issue can happen for many reasons. It could be a hardware issue with the headset or controller. It also might just be a setting or your network not functioning the way it should. Here are some trouble shooting tips for you to try.

The problem is that I can no longer talk, listen to party chat and listen to game chat on the same headset as I once could.

I can listen to game chat and party chat on the same headphones, but the xbox/controller doesn't send the audio form my microphone to any service.

People in my party can not hear me, and when I record messages, there is nothing recorded.

I can, however, hear my own voice when a certain setting is turned on, on the xbox. (I can't remember the name of this setting right now)

My mic is not muted in any hardware control or any xbox setting that I know of.
