If I buy this I can still play with friends on ps4 right? From what I've read it says so but I just wanted to check before buying it. Or is this not the correct edition if I want to play with friends on different platforms?

I have uninstalled the Minecraft Launcher and reinstalled it.

Yeah, you do not get the game for free on the PC, if you own it on another platform. You will have to purchase the game again, so you can play it on there.
