I bought a Xbox Gift card before and it worked perfectly, now, it says it’s not from my region

Ive experienced the same problem for the last 2 days and founds a solution (Done on pc with webbrowser)

I have just spoken with microsoft/xbox service employee. He suggested to change the region of the weblink. Im dutch and my english isn't very well but I try to do my best step by step.

1. Open webbrowser/tab

2. Go to xbox live and sign in with your account

3. Typ in searchfield in the upper right corner: change gamertag

4. Depending on de country where you live you will see a different region section in your web adress, example here below.

You'll see both the english and dutch version of the webpages regions described as 2 small letters & 2 captital letters.

https://www.xbox.com/en-US/live (en-US = America version)

https://www.xbox.com/nl-NL/live (nl-NL = Dutch version)

Change it into the letter of the country your located in. press enter and you'll see notice the webpage changes to its native language.

Also available comes the option to pay with your microsoft wallet.

If you bought a gift card from another region, go to your setting and change the region of the xbox to the region you bought the gift card from, Redeem it, and then you can bo back to your previous region.

Two major problems with your solution

One codes are region locked

So.even if he redeems it he cant use it in another region

Two hes using it on an xbox 360.any purchases he tries to make has to follow the marketplace rules

So.if he.tries.to.use it.om an xbox 360 digital game it.womt work because of the region lock on most games

Three which makes your advice very very bad

Also why noone else mentions using it in another region

In order to.use it on an xbox 360 content he must migrate his account to.the region which can only be changed every 3months it.is.not.like.the xbox one where you csn use.the console.location to change regions

And he'd have.to.spend the.money in that region

If its.region locked he just.lost that amount

As posted in your other thread, if the code is from another region than your account, then it will not work. If the retailer you purchased it from is from your same region, you would need to try contacting them for an exchange. Otherwise, you would need
