Once a console is banned, it won't be unbanned. Your best bet is to call the store when they open and ask them if you can exchange it.

Hello, I posted on forum 14 but it didn't show up, sorry for the double post if it does show on there, I'm posting here because idk where to post it if it was filtered out

Anywho I bought an xbox elite 120GB from Game today but when I got it home to my boyfriend he foudn it was banned as sopon as he turned it on, can this be fixed in anyway as this was ment to be a present for him, I'm asking ehrer because my local Game is now
closed so I can't take it back today, also anyone from Game or knows anything about Game, can I return the console for this reason?

Unfortunately that is the risk of buying a used console. Console bans cannot be lifted. The only think you could do is try to return the console for a refund.

Usually, consoles are banned because they were modified in a way that violates the Xbox Live Terms of Use.

a banned console will not be able to ever connect to Xbox Live again.

It's like buying a used car whose brakes are faulty, and the fuel line is ruptured in a way that the car is considered to be a fire hazard. If the police finds your car is not road worthy, they will impound the vehicle, no matter how correct you were driving,
as faulty brakes and the risk of the car burning or exploding also endangers other drivers.

Depending on the laws of your country, it might also be that your 12 year old kid is not old enough to legally do such purchases or purchase contracts. For example in Germany where I come from, there is the so called "Taschengeld-Paragraph" (or "pocket money
law"), where kids are considered not business-worthy, but are allowed to buy small goods in a price range that is usual for pocket money (e.g. sweets, magazines, books etc.), but more expensive purchases like consoles, TVs or business contracts cannot be done
by 12 year old kids.

So your best bet is to contact the seller of the console and ask for a refund. Either because the seller sold you a banned console without telling you, or because your kid didn't have the permission to buy the console, and you want to void the purchase contract.
