I bought a 320G HD, but the damn thing says it has only 229G!

Hi, I'm Brazilian and I have a problem: I bought a 320G HD for my X360 Slim, but the damn thing says it has only 229 G! what is happening?!

hey this same thing just happened to me but I have the xbox slim and 320g HD I got an update and bamm! 100+g of stuff gone

maybe we both got hacked

Trying to inst the texture stuff but it says only permits installing hd content on the xbox 360 hd, what??? 4 gig xbox with 2.7 gig of space free not good enought???? any one has this issue as well, just bought a new xbox for this game.

 

Anytime you purchase a hard drive, there is actually slightly less space than what's written on the box due to how that space is calculated. With Xbox hard drives there is also hidden system files needed on those drives. So that takes up more space. So that
is correct.

 

320 to 229 seems a bit excessive. Id transfer all my stuff from the hard drive (If there is any) to a flash drive and reformat the hard drive

 

I now know that the X360 only recognizes 298G from 320G - and that means the guy who sold me this damn HD tried to cheat me. But this guy will now pay for that.

 

Hi BulkiestObin, if this is a second hand HDD then chances are that the drive has corrupted/damaged segments (the xbox will just bypass these and not count them). Formatting the drive may clear some segments increasing the size

 

Several gigs are used for system data, if it's pre owned, you can format it by going to 'System Settings' > 'Storage' > Press 'Y' Over the HDD > and select 'Format'

Warning: This week delete all but needed files from the storage device including saves, updates and profiles. Please move all needed information before formatting.

 

I done everything like you said, Leo Ascendent - but my console still continue to recognize only 229G in my HD...

 

Is it an official Microsoft HDD? I've looked around, and it seems that 30-35gbs are used by the system, if you're missing almost 100, something is definitely wrong.

 

Eeeeerrr... as far as I know, no, it is not an official Microsoft HDD. I bought in the hands of a friend - but only because I thought the he would buy an official one. -_-'
