  1. I believe playing Far Cry 5 is causing major system stability issues on Xbox One X

Now, I believe this deserves to be here in the MS forum since it's beyond just in in-game problem but effecting systems performance.

I've consistently noticed lately that this game causes major system failures that require hard resets. My assumption is the game might be utilizing too much of the systems memory and is shutting off background tasks needed for stable system performance.\

It appears to kik in around the point (I'm assuming) if I let the game idle, I have a 4K UHD TV and worry about burn-in so I set the screen saving dimmer on the XB1X to kick in after 2 minutes of idleness. From this point a few errors have occurred, first
was once the game idled, the screen saving dimmer kicked in, and when I resumed play the screen saving dimmer didn't turn off (left in a permanent dim state). Next problems, and this was probably more a consistent problem is the dash button becomes disabled,
for instance, if I hit it, I don't see it, but I know it's there because I can hear myself navigating through an unseen menu. Sometimes this even effects the home screen, I've tried going to home screen after playing this game to find that I get there, but
I can't interface with it, it looks frozen but I can hear myself navigating but there's no visual indication that I'm interacting with it. Each time this stuff has happened. It's always around when playing this game, or immediately after. At one point, the
whole system crashed the moment the game went into idle. If I start up fresh playing something else, no problem, but after playing Far Cry 5 I notice problems with system stability.

I'm going to attempt to disable my in-game DVR in hopes this helps prevent this game from doing this to see if it makes a difference, by maybe freeing up some system resources hopefully this doesn't happen.

Now, I could be wrong, maybe it isn't system resources but could be an error in this game's online functionality, maybe the idleness is interfering with an online signal, or maybe the screen saver constantly rotating my achievement information of other games
on my screen is causing some online interference and thus effecting my game and/or system stability.

    :)

  2. Trouble launching Far Cry 5

Hello, I have an issue going on: after installing Far Cry 5, the game won't launch on my Xbox One because it freezes during launching and it consequently turned off my Xbox One.

Then I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Far Cry 5 once, but I still have that issue. =(

Can somebody please explain how to resolve this issue? Thank you.

Is it just me or does anyone else also experience this issue?

I'm sorry for not being specific about which "One" console: My Xbox One is an original console I got for Xmas in 2013 (almost 5 years ago) before the introductions of "Xbox One S" and an "Xbox One X".

Heaven forbid this stupid issue will keep me from start playing Far Cry 5 forever.

You should report these bugs to the makers of this game FarCry 5 Ubisoft, maybe they fix with an update.

  5. If the game is using more than its allotted amount of system resources and it's causing background tasks to crash then that's something MS needs to address since they were supposed to certify this, if it were simply faults in games code that causes the software
to crash that would be one thing, but it's tanking the system stability with it. And I've dealt with Ubisoft technical support in the past and their horrible. They'll tell me to do everything like uninstall/reinstall software, power cycle console, factory
reset my Xbox, try another Xbox, format my drive, do like two dozen port forwarding tasks on my browser, DMZ my Xbox.

And I do think it's a system resource issue, since turning off my game DVR I haven't run into a single issue yet, and I had to do several hard reboots the prior day.

Ok then, its known when using DVR function is decreasing performance and on the same game/OS hdd both are busy accessing the hdd at the same time can let the system crash.

Use DVR on the ext. drive and game/OS on the int.hdd should fix it.

Hdd accesstime have big impact on gaming/OS performance, like when I run PUBG on an ext. sdd, it display popup/texture graphics faster and run faster/smoother frames with last update is stable 30fps.

  7. Heya!

We have not seen other reports of this issue of run into anything like this on our own consoles, would you mind providing video examples of what you are seeing so we can investigate the issue?

If there is an issue with system resource usage we would love to figure this out sooner than later!

Could you also provide photos of your console and where it is plugged into a power source?

Are you using an external hard drive by chance?

Post back and let us know!
