I apparently bought the PC version of a game... from the Xbox One Microsoft Store? Anyone?

Hey guys, i made an account just to ask for questions on this issue. I'm just looking for answers as I'm pretty frustrated with this situation. I've had an xbox one for years and years - great system, never
failed me yet. In the past I've had no issues with purchasing games via the Microsoft store and installing/downloading them onto my xbox and playing them that way, in fact most of my games have been bought this way. However, this just happened and I'm at the
end of my rope trying to explain it:

I purchased The Outer Worlds for Xb1 via the Microsoft Store on my Xbox One system

I entered my usual card information and was billed accordingly - the full $60

Waited, waited, no download for the game queued or began. Restarted console. Still nothing..

After some time, I called Xbox Support and went through that rodeo, they informed me that the purchase made on my account, which again, I made from my Xbox One through the same microsoft account I have always
used only for my xbox, was ACTUALLY for the PC version of The Outer Worlds. I don't play PC and have never downloaded any games for PC. Again... I apparently purchased the PC version of this game in trying to purchase/install on my Xbox. I do not know how.

I've gone through the process of requesting a refund, and it'll take some time for that whole situation to work itself out, but I'm just wondering how the hell this happened? I have never heard of this happening
to anyone else, and in going back and exploring the game page for The Outer Worlds on the xbox store, I don't even see an option available to purchase the PC version from the Xbox..

So I'm basically wondering, am I a monumental idiot an somehow played myself and actually bought the PC version some
[mod removed-profanity]-backward way? Is this an issue stemming from Private Division or Obsidian? Or did Microsoft just make a mistake and screw me over? Any feedback would be appreciated, and thank you!

Thanks for coming to the forums. The most likely explanation as it was a glitch. As you were on the console it should of been an Xbox game. You have done the correct thing in requesting a refund for the incorrect merchandise. As there is nothing more we
can do here or really explain what happen I will be locking this thread. For refund continue to follow the emails sent by them. Hope all gets sorted out for you.

This looks like you may have purchased the PC add ons as the Microsoft store has both an Xbox and PC version for those items.

Alternatively if you bought them using the Xbox Store then it looks like you may have bought them on a different account. Do you game share with anyone and vice versa?

Halo 5 wasn't available on PC (from memory) so not sure if you will have bought the digital copy from the Microsoft Store for that one.

For minecraft there are a couple of versions. the Java version is only PC but if you bought the digital copy from the microsoft store then it will be available to you on the Xbox.

Forza 3 is available on both and as above, if you bought the digital copy from the microsoft store it will be available to you on the Xbox.

Once signed in on the Xbox (with the same account that owns them) under My Games & Apps they should appear in your ready to install area for you to install.

If you bought it from the website, that is the console version of the game. You would need to buy the PC version from the Microsoft Store app to play it on PC.

Thanks for your message. We both have the Microsoft version from the store. I bought my version on my Xbox store and my friend bought his PC version from the Microsoft store. The problem is still there .. no chance of connection!

We also tried to add each other on a dedicated server from his PC. But even that was not working. Still "Join fail" . Where is the problem?
