I am very disapointed

After reaching one of your guys at the microsoft support service, I decided to buy the CD SoT on the Xbox and to install it before beeing able to play it with Xbox anywhere on my PC.

The fact is that he was wrong when he were telling me that Xbox playanywhere was also working after buying the CD.

I saw on the internet (of course after buying the CD and subscribe to one complete year of Live GOLD) that Xbox playanywhere was only for games downloaded from the microsoft store. The post was from 2016, after the Xbox playanywhere annoucement at the E3.

So I decided to call the support again and to ask the question once more to another person.

This time I had a girl on the phone : wonderful, engineers are aware of my problem because lots of people are calling about it. She said exactly this words : "I confirm that Xbox playanywhere will work even if you bought the Xbox CD, you will be able to
play on your PC for free ! Just give us the time to fix and solve this issue."

This is now two liars that are not even aware of the products for wich they are supposed to assist.

Thank you Microsoft, I have just spent 70€ for a game on a plateform I don't play on anymore, and 60€ additional euros to became a GOLD member of your great community for one more year.

You are obviously able to allow me to play this game on my PC, wich is my only wish since the first call to the support (I called 3 times and finally the third person on the phone agreed that it can't work and that his coworkers didn't told me the truth).

Please feel forced to call be back.

It just doesn't cost 500 for a console anymore. So busted out. And the best part is he busted himself out.

MS is really good at the way the handle faulty consoles. It usually comes with a download code for a free game…

It's strange what happened. Play Anywhere works on X1 and PC only with digital purchases and not with physical disc. There is also written explicitly on the
site: "when you own an Xbox Play Anywhere digital title, it's yours to play on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC". Try asking for a refund for the game and buying it in digital
version from the store.

The support just called me back.

They gave me the person from the yesterday evening call : this guy is now saying that I was about to give my game back to the store where I bought it, but I didn't had it before the call. It make no sense. For sure he didn't told me at all that the CD version
was working for Xbox playanywhere. But he did, believe me. And this girl I had on a call this morning said the same.

After asking the conditions to get the record of the yesterday call with this guy, he just hanged off.

A manager of the team called me back around noon. He is now listening the records of the call between me and the first agent.

Finger crossed to get the game for free (as I paid it once already) on my PC as indicated by the both microsoft employers ...

(PS : I have find the information regarding the Xbox playanhywhere conditions this morning but it was too late. Yesterday I decided to call and to ask directly because that was not clear enough.)

Xbox Play Anywhere is only available if:

1. The game you purchased is a listed Xbox Play Anywhere title

2. You purchased it digitally

More clarifying info on how to take advantage of Xbox Play Anywhere below:

"When you buy an Xbox Play Anywhere digital game through the Xbox Store or the Windows Store, it’s yours to play on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC at no additional cost. To take advantage of Xbox Play Anywhere, you will need to have installed the Windows
10 Anniversary Edition update on your PC, as well as the latest update on your Xbox One console. Then, simply log into your Xbox Live/Microsoft account and your Xbox Play Anywhere games will be available to download. On your Xbox One, games will show as “Ready
to Install” under “My Games and Apps”. On your Windows 10 PC, games will appear in 'My Library.' "

If you were told otherwise regarding discs as they relate to Xbox Play Anywhere, we're very sorry to hear that received the wrong information which influenced a purchasing decision.

In this case, as DominumStige mentioned, we recommend inquiring about a refund with the retailer you purchased the disc from and then purchasing the digital version instead.
