Hello Xbox Community & Xbox Moderators:

I have received my Halo Wars Definitive Edition Promo Code from pre-ordering Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition, but it keeps giving me the classic "Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. The error has been recorded and we will investigate. Please try to redeem
your code later. " I am unsure if we are supposed to wait until we given a message saying it's OK to redeem or if the servers are getting flooded which causes the server to kick mine out because it can't handle so many at once. Is anyone else having this issue?
Is Xbox aware of this and are trying to fix it? Or finally am I probably right and the servers are flooded which is resulting in too many players trying to redeem their codes?

Sorry to see any confusion and frustrations around this, however the description of

Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition pre-order page clearly states that it will take 7-10 days before you receive your code.

*Pre-order the Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition and receive Halo Wars: Definitive Edition. The codes for Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be delivered to your Xbox message center in 7-10 days from pre-order, beginning December 20, 2016. Redeem your code on
Xbox One, Xbox.com or the Xbox App on Windows 10. For more information on how to redeem codes, visit Xbox.com/howtoredeem-console.

If it hits day 11 and you still do not have your Halo Wars Definitive Edition code, please post up a new thread detailing your purchase date so that we can dig into this further. Thanks for understanding!

Did you purchase the physical version, or did you purchase a digital code to redeem on your Xbox One console? If you purchased a digital code and have recently redeemed it, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition should unlock for you to download for free within the
Xbox Store. If you purchased the physical version, unfortunately we are unable to provide codes for that as it would have already come in the package.

Search for the game in the Xbox Store and see if you're able to download it. Keep us posted!

Did you preorder a physical copy of Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition or digital copy? If it's a physical copy, your code for the Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be in the box for Halo Wars 2. If you preordered a digital copy, you'll get a code for the Halo
Wars DE copy to your Xbox Live message center 7-10 days after redeeming your code.
