I am unable to play a game after expiry of game pass despite i already own the copy

HI all.

I own a game disc for quantum break, the fact is I had subscribed for xbox game pass trial which has ended recently, it is understood that i can't play a game while my game pass subscription is not renewed but the problem is one of the game which is enlisted
in game pass catalogue is owned by me, i have the disc for that game i'm also not able to play whereas i am the owner of the game, i need help how to make this game run

I am having this same problem right now. I have Mudrunner spintires and rocket league both on disc version xb1, but it's telling me I need to renew game pass to play them. Discs are inserted in the xbox when error is displayed.

Yes all disc games need the disc inserted in the console to play them. It's proof of licence.

Are you using the Disk when you try to play the game? since you no longer have game pass a disk would be required.

Yes you will need to insert the disc every time you play.
