I am unable to change my default install folder.

    Hi,

I wanted to install FH5 on a separate drive, but when I clicked the install button after changing my default install folder to my external drive, the popup ignored what I had indicated and gave only one option for me to install to my C: drive. When I went back into settings I saw that the default install folder setting had also been changed back.

    :)

I am unable to change my default install folder.

    Hi awesomedef,

Welcome to Microsoft Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

We understand that you were having issues changing default storage location for your games. The video is a great help and thanks for providing it to us. Let us check on this together so you will get back to gaming.

As what we saw in your video, the external drive is clearly read by the system but not showing as an option for saving a game. Can you please check and confirm if this suggested troubleshooting work?

Keep your device and Xbox app updated.

    Restart device.

Close all apps running on your Windows PC.

Disable any antivirus, antimalware, VPN or PC optimizer that may block/quarantine installation/download you make on PC.

Go to your PC settings > System > Storage > Change where new content is saved. Try to change everything as the external hard drive.

Please launch the app to try downloading the game and see if the external drive is now available.

Please, do not forget to check here for known issues that might be related to your concern.

How to change Xbox App back to default saving location.. Problem I created a folder C:\FM22 and is stuck now at this

hi mate .. am not sure what was original path ? it was default one
since I changed it , the editor which is installed separately from game not starting bcz seem it doesn't recognize any path and go to default one which am not sure where it is
am just asking what is default save path?

I uninstalled game 10 times mate .. unless I know where XBOX app default save drive is , I will not be able to run the editor.

and all my new content is set to be saved from storage to C:\, but xbox still stuck to C:\FM22
am not sure if C is default installation place.. it must be within hidden folder within Windowsapp folder , this is why had to make it modable and move it to C:\FM22 folder where I can add mod .. but problem now Editor is not working .. now I don't want mod anymore !! but can't revert game to be installed to its original location which I think was in that hidden folder

    Flight Simulator 2020 launch issue

I resolved issue by moving my WindowsApps folder inside another temp folder, then installed MSFS to the same drive where it made another WindowsApps folder which competed the installation, I then just moved the original files from the temp Apps folder back
to the new one. Sounds simple, but I had a lot faffing about to do as moving the windowsapps folder had files inside being used by other programs like the xbox beta app and not having permissions for files and folders, a google search helped in fixing those
issues which was simple in the end.

Only other way of doing it is a clean install of windows i'm afraid

Forgot to mention, have you changed the default location of windows store apps? as choosing my drive and clicking install did absolutely nothing untill I change default apps location

Hope this helps you get up in the air.
