there was no dvd in package only card with code.

Looking for an online download

I don't have live on my 360 (a lack of wifi), and I need the download for rever compatibility to enable the play of original xbox games. I emailed suppport and got:

"All you have to do is to update your console. Here is the link on

how to do it:

the link gives me the option to burn to a cd/dvd---when i drop down the how to, it says

On your computer,
download the update file. but that isn't the CORRECT download, and I can't find the download I need...can someone direct me to the download?

There are a couple of different ways you can redeem the code - How to redeem gift cards and codes

Once you redeem the code, the game should start downloading on your console. You don't need a disc since it's a digital download and there is no way to burn the game to a disc.

There are guides on how to download and burn the file on a cd/dvd or use a usb flash drive,on that link.

Click on the green letters that say 'try updating your console software',then select the 'Install from a game disk'.

Next select 'Burn to a CD or DVD'.

As you will see below there are some green letters 'download the update file', thats the file you want.

Burning this file on a cd/dvd ,will help you update any xbox easily.

I can play a 2012 burned DVD-R on my xbox360. But I can't play DVD-R disks of MVI files !! So it can be done. I am still troubleshooting.

Instead of downloading the update via live can you download the file and burn it to a CD/DVD or put it in a USB stick and do it that way?-

Greetings, Sonasin. Very sorry to hear you're having trouble downloading the update. Let's see what we can do to get thins working properly. First off, I understand that you don't have a USB stick. However, you can also update your console by downloading
the update to your computer, burning the update to a CD or DVD, and then installing it on your Xbox. Have you tried that already? If not, please give it a go and keep us posted on your progress. For full instructions on how to do this, please take a look at

Burn to a CD or DVD.
