    I am running into errors when attempting to recover my account.


    Problem:

    My account will not let me sign in. It says that the wrong password has been entered too many times, so it won't let me log in. I haven't logged in in a few months so I am glad the account at least stopped someone else from getting into it. The issue is that now I can't recover my account.

    What I have:

    I have 4 authentication factors:

    -Account email

    -Recovery email

    -Recovery phone number

    -Microsoft recovery code

    What I've tried:

    I have 2 factor login enabled, so I CANNOT submit a recovery form.

    I attempted to reset my account using a code sent to my recovery email and a code from my recovery phone. After I entered both the codes, it had me do a CAPTCHA. It said that I passed the CAPTCHA but then was stuck on that screen and would not advance the recovery process. I've tried this multiple times on different days.

    I also attempted to use my Microsoft recovery code multiple times, on multiple days, and on multiple devices. I also tried using a different browser. Every time I keep getting the same error message:

    "There's a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later."

    I have 4 different methods of authenticating so there must be a way to recover my account, but nothing seems to be working. I appreciate any help!

    I have attempted to use the account recovery forum but as I have two factor authentication turned on, the form is automatically denied. I also cannot turn of 2FA because I can't access the account. As far as I am aware, I have run out of options for recovering my account. Even after changing my password multiple times, I still can't verify my account due to the error. I appreciate the attempt, but I can't see a way of recovering this account.

    I am signed into the same Xbox Live account which I purchased the Xbox Game Pass on. I have even tried signing out and into the account again. I am still receiving the same error message when attempting to run the game.

    What is the exact error message you get when you attempt to sign in? Have you tried recovering the account?

    My Privacy Settings say that I can talk with anyone, but in parties, it tells me it is not working.

    I am having the same issue. even runs into an error message when attempting to change settings on xbox.com

    Although they won't be able to help with recovering or replacing the password you can contact support via https://support.xbox.com/contact-us and start a chat. When you get to a fellow Xbox gamer ask to be escalated to a Microsoft Advocate for more help.
