I am lost on the Xbox Error Start Screen (nothing works)

Hello Community,

Yesterday, I played Forza Horizon 4, when suddenly the console told me that there is a problem with my save file. I should delete all saves and then come back after the save file synchronization. I selected "Delete all saves, but keep games". The console
resets and I see the error start screen or whatever I should call it. No matter, what I do, I cannot stop making this screen appear.

Here are my options:

- Restart: Console turns off and on. It shows the error screen again.

- USB-Update: I have prepared an USB-Stick. When I select this option, a screen appears showing 0% and a progress bar. The console restarts after 1-2 seconds and the error screen appears.

- Delete apps, but keep games: A new screen with a progress bar appears. After 1-2 seconds the console restarts.

- Delete everything: Same as above.

- Turn off: This works, but does not help much...

There is no difference, when I unplug the console for 30 seconds and try again.

There is no difference, when I use the two-button combination during start to force the console to directly go to the setup screen. The options are similar and lead to the same outcome.

The error code is E106, but I had E102 and E200 before.

It is an Xbox One S.

I bought it on Black Friday 2018 and turned it on several weeks later, so it is only in use for about two months. Xbox website is telling me, I have warranty until late 2020.

I hope somebody can help me. You may advise, if I should

- try certain steps at home.

- call Microsoft service hotline.

- send the console to Microsoft for repair.

- send the console to the retailer and get a new console (I do not know, if this works).

I had the same initial problem before. Something was not right with my save file. I play online 100% of the time. Problem also occurred with Forza (download version). I had to delete all saves and the problem was solved for a week.

Problem occurred again while playing Forza and I deleted everything. Had to download 60 GB of Forza again.

The described situation is the third time I have this problem. Now I cannot even delete everything. If I could somehow delete everything, I would not tough Forza again.

I appreciate every help.

Unfortunately you can't delete stuff saved to the cloud.

Thank you for your responses, Diego and Mike.

I even tried what I mentioned previously after the console was unplugged for a whole night. So the 30 seconds thing should not be an issue.

I spent more time on the USB option. The stick already fulfilled the requirements (60 GB stick, NTFS format, file downloaded and unzipped, no other files on stick), but I did a quick-formatting before. So now I tried a full formatting of the stick (to NTFS
format). Unfortunately, it did not work. The process is stopped after a few seconds showing the E101 error, which does not help.

It seems I have to send the console to Microsoft...

Thanks again for the help. Bye the way, is there a way to play Forza Horizon 4 again? Can I delete the online save (but only this single one!)? Or can somebody somehow repair the save?

Hey Phil!

I am sorry this is happening to you. If you have a warranty contact microsoft and see what you can do if this issue persists. I suggest you unplug the console for 1 minute NOT 30 seconds so the cache can flush. I hope you have a nice day, please give me

Thank you for coming to the forums today, I'd be happy to help.

When doing the USB option did you download the Offline system update files found online? The offline system update is the process to try when the normal factory reset's are not working. It's possible the Forza files corruption also corrupted the operating
system causing these startup errors.

Take a look at this support article for the process of an offline system update which I recommend trying before considering using the console's warranty for an exchange or repair:

Select "I need to update my console offline" and the files for the update will be found in one of the steps and a link on how to format the flash drive to the correct format for the Xbox.

On Xbox Series S, wanted to play Alice Madness Returns off Xbox game pass which is meant to be backwards compatible, but have this error 80151103.

So the game wont start and I only get to see the welcome/ start screen and says it needs a profile/ login.

Tried various so called fixes but nothing works, fails on downloading profile.

If I am on Series S should it not use my profile anyway and just start?
