I have the same problem. Two friends and I live in Illinois and often when we play with our friend in Colorado my brother will be able to play together but I will not or vice versa. It is only when we join with my friend from Colorado. It matters not who
the party leader is. So right now I am watching my brothers TV as he and our two friends play zombies and I am looking for a solution/reason for our problem.
