just to pipe in also, when purchasing digital content you are actually purchasing a licence to play said game or dlc for that particular system until they see fit otherwise, nobody except the publisher owns the software, you purchase a licence to play said
software, they also hold the right to discontinue said software if you read the terms, but in this case it will not happen, but you cant expect to purchase a game on one platform and play on another, it does not work that way and never will, it has been like
    this for decades.

I am not talking about games, again, dlc, digital content. They are honoring season passes, so it is possible. I disagree that we should just expect to lose dlc when it is available and sold on the next gen. It is my opinion, which I certainly have a
right to have, that this is a form of double dipping, bad consumer practice, which makes consumers lose trust. Again I am referring to dlc still available and sold in the marketplace. They are going to do it with many game content, they already have with
minecraft, so therefore I am certainly not the only one who feels this way. It also shows that it is possible, they are going to do it in the near future, starting this month. They obviously understand the importance of consumer trust when offering downloadable
digital content for purchase, micro transactions. People who play online multi players with micro transactions, who make multiple purchases, don't expect to load the same game, next gen, lose everything, start over, when money was involved.

    I am in shock, disbelief.

the licences i was on about cover dlc and games, does not matter if you purchased the dlc with the same company, the licence covers for use on one system unless the publisher grants a discounted or free upgrade to the new system, which some did for a limited
time when the xbox one released. as you have been told you are not losing anything as they are and will be available on the the 360 which is the system your purchased the content on.

  7. ...what I expected was my digital downloadable dlc that I bought on xbox 360 Live to, if available, to still be honored on xbox one live, digital content.

While I can understand this reasoning, it is not that simple.

For example... you bought a dlc map on xbox 360 live, download digital content only, and even though it is still available for digital download purchase on xbox one live they expect us to buy it again. Again my issue
is with honoring digital purchases etc. If it is not available on xbox one I am fine with that, but if we purchased a map pack and they are selling the same map pack why was I locked out of my purchase?

This is where the "not that simple" aspect comes into play. The short answer is, it is not the same map pack. Now, wait before you start thinking "this guy is confused and didn't
read..." In the case of game content, what works on the 360 won't simply work on the Xbox One without modification. It has to be "ported" or recoded in order for the X1 to use it. That process takes time and costs money.

It would be something like having an MP3 player, then buying a new music player that only plays MP4 music... you can't expect your MP3 files to play on it, even though they're
the same files. You also can't expect someone to give you all your files in MP4 format, just because you originally purchased them in MP3. It has to be converted. There are no game content converters out there, so the only option is for the devs to do it.
If a cost is incurred by them...

I believe some has made good arguments that my conflict may not be xbox but the developers, I certainly would like to know who's idea that was, aka double dipping.

This may not apply to all content, but in the case of most game content... it is not double dipping.

If 360 games can be emulated but not their DLC, then in essence the xbox one isn't capable of actually emulating the 360 in software like we were led to believe then eh?

Or is it because of greed as was alluded to in this thread?

Example: I bought fallout new vegas with expansions on the cheap. (Disc) so all can be BC on the X1 is the game itself, and not the expansion packs?

Like I said in threads desiring BC, when people said. 'X1, unlike the 360 is x86... so it can't be BC to the 360.' to wit I replied. 'Can't never could do anything.' - And E3 2015 Spencer delivered. But now 360 disc/digital based game DLC Example: Batman
Arkham City Game of the Year DLC, (Catwoman, Robin etc) is getting the 'Oh, we can't.: Treatment?

    Again, can't cannot do anything.

While Can Do is the mentality most respected in this, or any age! Or has that mentality been replaced with. Won't and/or greed?

^^OR as blue alluded to, converting things from 360 to one takes time and money? Time better spent looking forward rather than converting every little bit from the 360? Also, as mentioned, maybe it is not a call that Microsoft makes, rather the publishers
    and rights holder?

I believe what the OP is referring to is he purchased some games that have both a 360 version and a xbox one version. To the OP the games are built differently for the newer system and that is not on microsoft for trying to double dip but on the publisher
of the games in question cause they do have some companies that did upgrade programs last year around launch. Dont blame microsoft for being greedy blame activision for diablo and whoever made terraria cause they are the ones profitting by you buying 2 versions.
I agree with you that the games that are unchanged should be honored but your blame needs to be directed in the right place so your voice can be heard.
