I am having trouble connecting to xbox live

I have tried all the suggestions and can't seem to get it to work. I have unplugged my modem for 30 seconds, reset the connection to factory default, also I have no 3rd party headsets, etc. my main problem is when I go to test my network connection it connects
to the internet and proceeds to tell me I have a software update witch I accept and soon after gives me an error code after starting the download. I have tried just about everything and it is not my xbox nor my internet I have tested it on other devices. I
have run out of ideas and I need suggestions!

also I have CenturyLink as my internet provider and I am not sure if that will make a difference to any responses. Please help! and thank you!

Also I have tried the suggestive ideas to add the update manually, such as putting it on a USB.

And I have cleared the system cache.

No success.

i cant c my friends list and cany play my games after downloadin the update i also cant c my messages i wud like my console 2 b removed from the preview program please
