Hi my name is chris and i am having an issue with my console it doesn't read two separate game discs and was wondering if there was some sort of addvice you could give me?

My Xbox 360 won't read some discs. Help?

I am having trouble with my xbox (My xbox is one of the older versions not the slim one) reading discs. It says "open tray" almost everytime I insert a disc. The weird thing is that It's not having any issues when I try to play Halo 3,Halo 4 and NBA 2k12 . But when I try to play some of my others games like NBA 2k13,Battlefield 3 (This one is brand new) ,GTA IV,MW2,Bioshock 2 my xbox won't read the disc or after opening and closisng the tray a lot of times it will read the games but then I get the "Disc is Unreadable." message after a few minutes. Does anyone else have experienced this issue?

Xbox One X question

First I am not a console gamer, so I know NOTHING about consoles.

Will the Xbox One X be able to play current Xbox One games that are disc?

Besides that make sure your Disc`s arent scratched and that the Discs are clean. Report back if the steps on the link got it sorted.

i tryed the steps on the link but it doesn't seem to work and im sure its not the disc because i got a replacement disc and it does the same thing my xbox plays other games fine aswell

I take it Blu-Ray disc movies are working okay? Have you tried many of the ones you own? Games are detected?

Bear in mind that the Xbox One S, One X and the current Series X actually have two lasers, one for reading DVD discs (including Xbox 360 discs) and one for reading Blu-Ray discs, which also includes Xbox games as they are also on BD-Disc.

If the DVD laser is giving out, it won't read certain DVD discs, and this is likely the reason for the issues you are experiencing. This is also why Blu-Rays and Xbox One games are not effected. There is nothing wrong with your DVD's, it's the console's optical drive that is faulty.

My Xbox One has also been having issues with reading discs. Ever since the march update, any time I switch discs I get error code (0x21) saying that my disc is dirty or damaged. The only way I am able to get the system to read the disc is to do a hard reset,
which includes unplugging the system. On top of that, anytime I switch discs I have to do the same reset, and I am unable to even play the same game after turning the console off via its regular sleep mode.

@Nickthestick87 - Mine does that with one or two of my games (mostly CoD: Ghosts). It normally only takes one or two re-inserts for it to read the disc, so it's really not a huge deal for me. I have to say I am glad I am not the only one having this issue.
