I accidently payed a monthly ultimate subscription for xbox game pass

You can cancel the subscription by navigating to your Microsoft account, going to subscriptions and ending the subscription of your game pass. But I am not sure you will get a refund, some services do offer refunds so it could be possible.

I've been a member of Xbox gold since the 360 was released. Happily paying a yearly subscription. I want to upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate but it seems there is only a monthly subscription. I deploy frequently for work and don't want to manage a monthly subscription.
Is there a way to get a yearly (or larger) subscription. It's the only thing preventing me from going to Ultimate.

Unfortunately there isn't a yearly subscription offered at this time you can only go by monthly installments

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have a question on the Ultimate game pass. It will not be any cheaper. The video is for new members and it will only do it once. If you already have had the subscription, you will need to pay the monthly

As the Ambassadors have previously mentioned, If you are currently paying for these subscriptions on a monthly basis then you would want to complete the purchase for the Game Pass ultimate subscription so that it converts your outstanding time on the Live
and Game pass subscriptions and adds it to your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription time.
