I accidentally bought the wrong version of NBA 2k24, and opened the game to realize this....

I totally understand the importance of process a refund for this game since this is not the version you wanted to have from your end with your account. Before anything else, I would like to clarify that Microsoft has a refund policy for digital games, which states that you can request a refund for a digital game within 14 days of purchase, as long as you have not played the game for more than 2 hours. However, there are some exceptions to this policy, such as if the game has been played extensively or if it has been more than 14 days since the purchase.



In your case, since you requested a refund on the same day of purchase, and the game was not played for more than 2 hours, you should be eligible for a refund. If your refund request was denied, it's possible that there was an error in the process, or that the game was played for more than 2 hours. By the way, you should be receiving an email for the request that has been denied and to have it re-investigated, make sure to respond to the email.



On the other hand, you can contact Microsoft Support directly to discuss for any other option for this and when you speak with the agent, explain your situation and provide any relevant information, such as your order number and the reason for your refund request. The agent should be able to assist you with your refund request and provide any necessary steps to proceed with the process.

7. The next window will provide you with support articles based on your request and we recommend reviewing the relevant articles before selecting the "See contact options" button.

8. On the final window, you will be presented with multiple options. We suggest selecting either the "Chat online" or the "Request a call" options to speak with someone. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible.

9. If you cannot get connected to the support, please use the Virtual Agent and enter this exact phrase, "Talk to an agent".

If your refund has been denied, please reply to the email you received informing you of the refund rejection. In your response, explain in detail the reasons why they should reconsider their decision and why you believe they should accept it. This is the only way to appeal the rejection and to get back in touch with the team that originally handled your refund request.

In case you haven't received any email informing you of the refund rejection even after 24 hours, and after checking your spam/junk email folder, then I recommend reapplying for the refund using this alternative link:

If your refund is denied again this time, you should now receive an email informing you of the denial, as this is the only way they have to communicate this information when the refund is requested through that link. When you receive the email, respond to it as I mentioned before.
