I wouldn’t change your region as you may not have the same access to games as you do in the region you currently live in.

Xbox live gold cards are region locked you shouldve bought from within your region

If you moved and didnt change your region under manage my account then you should do so

If you got gold from another region then no you can't use a different payment method

For example if you have a cad payment method but bought a cheaper us discount code jt wont work your payment method must match the gold

Or if you aren't in a xbox live region this applies too

You have to live in a xbox xgu region and have a payment method from that region

Is the region on your account the same as the region you bought the card from? That code usually means you're trying to redeem a card from a different region.

Yes, microsoft point cards are often region locked and Australia is different region then Asia.

The points bought, are only suitable for Asian Xbox Live accounts.
