Hype over the best looking games: Has it gone to far?

Before I start let me just say this: I'm not just singling out Halo 5, there are many other games that are guilty of this.

There is no doubt that as a community we want the best looking games on our consoles. But at what point does it become too much? Why is there a need for 60 FPS? There isn't. 60 Frames makes the game smoother but that isn't what necessarily makes or breaks
a game. The things that make or break a game are connectivity issues, lag, bad story telling, and bad controls. Why suddenly is it that 60 frames is what makes or breaks a game? Games don't need to be 60 frames and truthfully, I'm fine at 30 frames per second.
When people start over hyping games for their frame rate and beautiful graphics, I have a problem. First off, graphics on games haven't gotten any better for a long time. Saying "wow these graphics are incredible!" should only be applied to Star Wars Battlefront
(which is a totally different conversation on why that game is going to be horrible, not saying Halo is bad). When there is no reason to make a game 60 frames to cut out other features, developers are doing an injustice to the game and the gaming community.
60 frames won't solve bad controls or an all around bad game. The game Too Human wouldn't be any better if it were 60 FPS. 60 FPS and all of those other unnecessary visual effects are not welcome here either. Games do not need to be 40 GB large because a developer
wants to make sure their lighting is perfect in comparison to others. Games don't need to be 60 GB large because every single thread of grass needs to be drawn out. Its an unnecessary waste of space. Here is a better idea: Instead of making games 60 FPS and
making unreasonably large, the frame rate gets cut to a constant 40, keep the features that would be cut otherwise, and don't go so overboard on detail and making a game larger that we forget about the game's story line or even how to have fun and not look
at every single unnecessary detail that developers are so instant is necessary. I plan on getting Fallout 4 but honestly Bethesda, no one cares about every single flashing light on a panel that you will spend five minutes in for the whole game. I would also
like to add that if you think all of these unnecessary visuals and frame rates are what makes a game and not what breaks it, you are killing the gaming industry.

i word of advice, dont get over hype this game. It isnt really an excellent game - medicore at its best, only the graphic are exceptional (PC).

 

New Xbox One, Sad owner....

Or all of the Hype about future BC has gone overboard. Never has there been so many people wanting to "preview" the xb1.

 

Yeah, its gone too far, the gameplay & storyline is what makes a game good, not graphics. Take Ryse Son of Rome for example, amazing graphics, okay plot, but poor gameplay.

 

Go play Halo 4 on 360 and tell me you don't need 60 fps. Your vision must be 600/4000 if you think framerate doesn't matter. Jesus, 60 fps is a must.

 

I have never ever had a problem with the frame rate on Halo 4 on Xbox 360, my vision is 20/10, and 60 frames is not a must. A good story line is a must. Engaging game play is a must. Smooth controlling is a must. 60 frames is not a must 60 frames is a want
that people are starting to think is what makes a game legendary and thinking that smoother frame rates cancel out everything else out from making a game legendary is something that kills the game industry. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is debated as one
of the best games of all time and it has poor graphics and frame rates. 60 frames is the last thing developers need to have in mind. The reason why Star Wars Battlefront is going to be bad is because the game ships with its bare bones and nothing else because
making Darth Vader's helmet glisten better is more important to DICE rather than actually making the game fun.
