Huge update downloads for NBA2K16 and Battlefront

I just purchased a new XBOX One and two games, NBA2K16 and Battlefront for my kids today.

We were excited to play, so ran home set it all up, ran through some system updates that took a while to download, but not too terrible.

However when we dropped the game disc in we expected we woudl be able to just start playing. However to our disappointment we could not avoid a mandatory game update download and install. This download would take all night!

Why on earth are we required to purchase CDs of the games when in order to play were essentially required to download massive data files that will fill up our hard drives?

Just let us play from the disc and not block us by requiring us to wait 12+ hours to download game updates!

How do I download game patch updates?

I have a digital copy of nba2k16 and apparently the patch is available for download but i am not getting any prompts to download the update and I have no idea if it even downloaded because I am still seeing no sweat during longer games

hello I need help I would like to get a refund because I bought nba2k16 on download and I can't even play it

 

The game has to install on to the hard drive.If you have a physical copy you still need to insert the disc to verify you own the game.

Most games have updates now,that's just the way it is.

If you install the game from the disc while not connected to live first then connect & download any updates it should be a bit quicker.

You can also leave your console in "instant on" mode in the power settings & it will automatically download any updates for the console or games you own when they become available.

Can't speak for NBA but SW:Battlefront had new maps & game modes added after release which you would need in order to play the game.
