Huge problem watching live TV through my Xbox One with this new TV.

I've had the Xbox One for a few months now and I've had no problem watching live TV through it. However, I got a new TV (Samsung PN60F5500AF) and now I'm having problems watching TV through my Xbox One. When I tried to watch TV it is was all choppy/laggy
and only playing about every 30 seconds for one second. It was like watching a video on horrible internet connection. We tried for 5-6 hours to fix it by going through both Samsung and Xbox live chats but they were no help at all. Now, we have it so the live
TV is playing with sound but still slightly choppy/laggy. I think it was something with the HDMI cable getting messed up with all the times we plugged it and unplugged it.

However, now that problem is that the picture does not fill up the whole screen. It's got black bars on the left and right sides of the screen. I have the aspect ratio of my TV on 16:9 and the Xbox set at 1080p (which is 16:9 I believe). I tried everything
though. 720p on the Xbox, Screen Fit on the TV, Wide Fit on the TV, etc.

Some other things are that the cable works fine directly from my TV to the cable box, just not through the Xbox. Also, I tried to go back to my other TV, which was a Panasonic, and the picture is now messed up on that TV too (it doesn't fill up the whole
screen). Something else that is weird is that sometimes when I turn on my Xbox, my Panasonic TV (that isn't even plugged into the Xbox anymore) turns on. So weird.

Sorry this was so long, just trying to be thorough and hope someone else had this problem and got it fixed.

This is ridiculous. It even messed up my other TV that has been working for months.

    :)

Xbox One randomly flicks my TV source to HDMI, then back when in 'instant on' mode.

Ok, so properly setting up my tv through my xbox one has done nothing to fix my problem.

While watching my normal tv with the Xbox in 'Instant-on' standby mode the tv changes source to HDMI1 (which the Xbox is plugged into) for a spilt second then reverts back to the tv source randomly.

    Anyone else have this problem?

  3. HDMI pass-through when Xbox One is OFF

I managed to get Live TV to work with the Xbox One and my Dish Network Hopper. It is beautiful.

Unfortunately, now I can't get the Hopper to work with the Xbox turned OFF (since my wife will not watch TV through the Xbox).

Is there a way to diagnose why HDMI pass-through is not working when the Xbox is turned off?

Here are more details about my current setup:

    • Connections:
    • Dish Network Hopper connected to Xbox One through HDMI (to the HDMI IN port)
    • Xbox One connected to my AV receiver through HDMI (using the HDMI OUT port on the Xbox One)
    • AV Receiver (Sony STRDN100) connected to TV (Samsung (UN55C6800) using HDMI
    • What works:
    • Xbox works fine playing games
    • Xbox works fine watching live Dish Network TV using the Xbox TV interface (coming from the Hopper)
    • What doesn't:
    • Watching live Dish Network TV using the Hopper directly when the Xbox is switched off
    Thanks!

Huge problem watching live TV through my Xbox One with this new TV.

Now it is not working on any TV I try after working on other TVs for a little bit. Black bars now appear on the sides of all the TVs when trying to watch TV through the Xbox.

  5. Just a few comments and questions. My experience has been that when you have black bars on the side (ie. pillar box) is because the program you are watching isn't HD and the TV isn't stretching the image. That may not be your case, but just double check
that the Cable box is sending out a HD picture and the channel you are watching is HD. Also, on your new TV, grats by the way, did you try all the HDMI ports?

As far as sometimes your Xbox turning on your old TV once you power up. To me it sounds like the Xbox still has the code for you old TV in the settings and not your new one. So when the Xbox powers on it IR blasts the On code to your devices.

Out of curiousity, have you hard reset your Xbox, by pressing the power button on the Xbox for 8 to 10 seconds until it powers down. Then wait a minute or two and then power back on by pressing the power button? That seems to remove quirky bugs.

Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable answers

Tv functions in the UK via Sky

You can still feed your TV through the Xbox and watch Live TV. Its just that the One Guide functionality is not available.
