Huge Decrease in Upload Speed only / getting kicked off server every game

If when playing you have 54 Mbps it is plenty enough. The problem is, this is the MAX speed and not the guaranteed speed. Depending on server and people active on that server, the speed can decrease significantly to the point where you get frustrated trying
to play. With as low as 1Mbps you can still enjoy the game.

SInce yesterday my upload speed has gone from the usual 7 or 8 mb/sec to one mb/sec or less .. can't play Halo 5, i get kicked as soon as the game starts. Had my ISP out here, got new modem, direct connection to it and so on, but the upload remained horrible,
while the download is normal and the PC's here show normal upload speeds.

Is this the xbox servers that is throttling the upload?

Microsoft is a huge multi service provider that has to allow bandwidth to business customers, general customers, servers and so on, even though they are a huge company even they have a limit on bandwidth and yes speeds are throttled for downloads so as everyone is not affected in some way, though usually around 300mbps to 500mbps.

the likes of Sony or steam only cater for one type of business and therefore the speeds will be higher.

also a lot of isp's also throttle download speeds on their networks for certain things so all their customers get a fair share of the bandwidth, also some isp's route traffic differently and this can affect speeds too, including how far you are away from the nearest data center.

all the above is for downloads.

UPLOADS are a different story, you might have a 1000mbps connection but uploads are usually a fraction of that, isp's usually supply asynchronous download and upload speeds, most will give about 50 to 100mbps upload on a gigabit connection even on fibre. if you are getting faster uploads then the above download explanation will be the same for uploading to the microsoft network too.

Don't let anyone tell you it's the wireless connection I get Kicked from games / lose connection with host every 1.5 to 2 hrs with a wired connection and a solid 13mb download 1mb upload speed
