How's the Xbox One hardware/software reliability?

If you can't handle it just go and buy the X1 what else do you want to anybody to say. I have had the PS4 since launch with no problems yet you have gone through 3 different consoles and they are all unplayable come on what are the odds.

And as far as the X1 I mean the bad disc drives, The broken Kinects and the controllers that are falling apart those issues.

That's strange that it's happened on three consoles even after resets.

I had several friends having the issue with NBA2k and BF4 but the reset worked and after the Feb update it was never an issue again. Sony said in late Jan that a patch was coming so most of us assumed the Feb update fixed it and other than the thread you
linked complaints almost completely disappeared at the other PS sites by the middle of Feb.

I have personally had very few issues with the PS4. I've had to hard boot a couple times due to the store not loading but other than that no complaints.

Only issue I have with the One is the Kinect apparently doesn't understand California accents. Accuracy is horrible for me with voice commands even after numerous re-calibrations but other than that nothing has prevented me from gaming in the way of locks
    or crashes.

@bstn you just contradicted yourself, "come on what are the odds" ? could be said about both consoles, yes the Xbox has had some failed disk drives, some broken kinects and controllers, these a such a small amount compared to sales.

The same can be said about the PS4 I have heard of many issues too but it's not helping the OP to list problems that are inherent with any technical product, I am sure they are more concerned with software issues and crashes.

To add my two pence, I am a Beta tester so have had probably more crashes then average yet have had no issues in games (BF4 had issues but this was the game not the X1) my issues have been with friends errors or games not loading correctly while twitch was
running, all Beta issues really which were resolved when released to the community.

"Xbox one got the disc drive of death.

Xbox one got the broken kinect of death.

Xbox one got the failling apart controller of death."

You're so funny...bstn617....How in your mouth some issues becomes major issues,of course on Microsoft side....Because we all know that others electronic devices manufacturers never got faulty products.

Wrong place to ask. If you would like to see what issues the Xbox one has, read through the support forums and you'll see first hand what people are dealing with and how MS is dealing with them. Some good, some bad.

    @f00xm4n Nice try?

But just so you know I will not deabte anything with you or any of the other regulars anymore do to the fact that too many children on this forum like to flag posts to get me banned just because they do not agree with my opinions.

So from now on I will just say what I want and not debate with you.

You have to agree tho, both consoles are having limited technical issues which are well below the norm, it's the software (which we will not discuss any further) that is the main issues both sides are gripping about How's the Xbox One hardware/software reliability? :)

Ok back on topic, @OP if both consoles were working fine, which has the games (present and future) you are more interested in? I ask because these issues will be fixed eventually and you don't want to end up regretting your decision if you do prefer Sony

Blitz 23 PS4 by a slim margin, both have games I like and appreciate. The PS4 has maybe 1-2 more exclusives that interest me more over the one. Most of the games I like are multi plats as far as exclusives literally I think Sony has 1-2 more than Microsoft
that interest me. So I could go either way to be honest, it's really for me going to depend on whether Sony fixes this or not within a month.

I think waiting for E3 might be best for you then, see all the actual games coming out on both consoles and the big announcements which might sway your choice. If the bugs and crashes get to much by then with no fix, then bite the bullet early and swap How's the Xbox One hardware/software reliability? :)
I am sure you won't regret it, but then I am biased How's the Xbox One hardware/software reliability? :)

I have a day one....no hardware problems yet (knock on wood). I have very fast and reliable internet, so download speeds have been fine. I had a burp with one of my apps (maybe Amazon video ?) but I deleted it and re-downloaded and no problems since. None
of the major issues I have seen on the forums here or elsewhere. Guess I am lucky, or the problems are scattered and minor?

    @KELLEYSJ

This is not a problem in de current publically released update of the Xbox One Dashboard, but you are likely participating in the preview update for the Xbox One. The issue you are experiencing is a known issue with the current preview update.

Please leave any feedback in the preview forums here:

What game are you still getting the ce-34878-0 error for?

That was the save corruption error that had a work around clear back at the end of Jan (safe boot, reset, etc) that worked for some but not others but it's been patched (at least in the US).

How's the Xbox One hardware/software reliability?

I bought a second run machine at the end of February. No hardware issues here, and I play it 15-20hrs a week.

I've got a kid, and understand your reasons for researching... In the end though, I would be saying to you to that no tech can be guaranteed to have zero issues. I'm not in the beta program (which is for upcoming software patches that beta testers provide
feedback on that are continually being rolled out by MS), and I've not had any issues on the software front either.

Do you have any friends with an Xbox One?

How's the Xbox One hardware/software reliability?

not sure how the PS works... but with MS and the XB1 they are just now getting their OS and UI where they want it, as well as changing upgrading from owner feedback. Before they get these updates out in the real world for everyone.. a select few were given
the rights to test the build for bugs etc etc.. those people were then allowed to invite more people to test the build... a vast majority of XB1 owners are like beta testers.... using a build that is not yet officially released... from those... a large majority
again are now having a cannot read disc error.... most from the beta but some might have problems... which is common for mass produced electronic tech...
