    How xbox could rule.

I recently connected my xbox1 to my cable box. Now I can use voice commands tp start and control my whole family room theater system and all my video suscriptions(cable, Netflix, amazon video, utube, skype with my kids). I am amazed at how great this is.
And even better, now I don't need a universal remote. I control everything with my SGS5, windows laptop, ipads, etc., using the smartglass app. Freakin awesome! I have a PS3 and it iss left in the dust.

But, now I just cant stop there. I got another xbox1 setup for the kids playroom. I am ready to pull trigger for a 3rd system for my upstairs living room. I have owned my xbox for 2 years and all this enthusiasm developed after I decided to plug in the
cable box and the possibilities just exploded!

    What Microsoft is missing?

Why can't I network these. I would like to be able to video chat with my wife upstairs, you know, Honey can you bring down a beer? or the kids in the playroom. Maybe have multiplayer within the home and have an active video chat in the snap window. Why
is this not possible?. I have spent hours searching for solutions to no avail.

How bout an app to connect to a home video monitoring security system. I can see who's knocking on the front door without stopping my game or movie.

As great as the xbox1 is, I think there is so much more potential. Maybe MS is afraid of adding too much capability because they could not build enough of these!

I mean, The way it is now, They are selling to a consumer who wants 1 xbox functioning in one living space and no more. Its capabilities limit it as a single isolated machine. How bout adding the additional LAN network features for a consumer who would
be willing to setup an entire home network system?

Another curious limitation. How come one cannot control the volume separately on apps that are snapped?. I can't snap Pandora and listen to music while muting the sound from a game. Both sounds come in simultaneously. Also I cannot swith control from one
snapped window to another. I have to unsnap and then snap the other app. That is a no-brainer. How could the developers not include that?

I wonder if MS product development people view these posts? Listen to the people. We're not all gamers.

    :)

As you said. You know how you break the rules. It is really simple. You broke rules, you could get banned. Unfortunately.

The volume can be adjusted when an app is snapped. go into settings on the console, then display and sound, next select sound mixer to toggle the volume between the main app and the game until the one you want is silen or lower than the other.

You would also be best position to post in the feedback forums, MS dont really read these pages, i will post the link for you once i find it again

""Not positive it would work since your in same house but couldn't you use Skype for your video chat? "

No. Both because x-boxes would be signed into the same Hotmail acct.

They can have different names within the home network, but skype uses e-mail accts.

"The volume can be adjusted when an app is snapped."

Tried it, got it. But still, why not allow you to toggle back and forth between apps and adjust volume? It cant be that hard to do, I think.

    Wow...... Just WOW....

Is this what the world is coming too. You can't pause you game or movie to actually move and talk to your wife.

Or you don't have the energy to get of your nice comfy chair to bother getting the door.

You don't need any more Xbox's my friend, what you need is a butler.

No Wonder this world is turning into a load of overweight couch potato's.

All of your ideas are not about GAMES! Microsoft tried to present the console as something more than just games and the internet hated and rejected that (though I might add, at any given part of the day, at least half of my friends list are: watching HBO,
    Netflix, TV, etc.)

  12. You call Being able to see who is at your door, without having to pause a movie.

Or calling on your wife because you can't be bothered to pause or stop playing a game for at least one minute to grab yourself one. Is not lazy.

I call that attitude very lazy, and with laziness comes the leaning towards laziness in other areas. This world has turned into an instant gratification world, with little or no effort put into forethought of health and obesity.

Do you somehow think it is some coincidence that as Technology has made our lives easier, that Obesity levels have gone through the roof. Technology and our ability to do as little as possible because of it has a major impact on health issues.

Since 1980 the USA had approx 45% of population overweight. That now stands at Approx 70%. That is not just through a lack of dietary requirements. It is instant technology and our ability to now not even have to move from our chairs to do most of the mundane
    things we used to do.

So Yes, i call it lazy, and yes i say that being as lazy as the OP is being in insinuating that they never want to pause, stop or even get off their own chair to grab their own beer, leads to being overweight. Tell you what, you do as the OP wants, do everything
from your Chair for 2 weeks (excluding toilets obviously) and see how much weight you put on, you will be surprised.

You are right TODI, everything Microsoft wanted to do with the Xbox One outside of "playing games" , (aside from the DRM and always online issues), incited extreme anger from most people that wanted to burn Microsoft at the stake! Amazingly some people are
STILL holding this against the Xbox One to this day, 2 years later, thus not giving the console a chance. Most people claim they only want to play games on their consoles like they did on their Atari's and Colecovisions, but most of those same people want
phones that can do more than just make calls but with game consoles, it's a drawback! Go figure...

@Hairy - You're assuming that just because the guy is envisioning other ways to make things more convenient that he automatically must be overweight and lazy. That's wrong no matter how you try to justify it.

Being able to see who is at your door from your TV is not going to have a significant impact on someone's health one way or another. Do you really think those 10 steps once or twice a week are going to make a difference? There's a big difference in laziness
    and efficiency.

  15. I didn't say he was overweight. I said he was lazy

Please use my words in the context that they are given. I said and i quote "No wonder the world is turning into a load of overweight couch potatoes"

Looking to see who is knocking at your door from a snap to option on your Xbox is not efficient in the least, Most people could just turn their heads, and look out the window to do that.

And it's not just the 10 steps, either you are being obtuse or just trying to pick holes. No matter which way you swing, their are some good ideas out there, and their are some bad ones. Being so lazy that you cannot be bothered to get up and make those
10 steps once or twice a week as you put, it what is turning this world in to the I want it instant, i want it now and i don't want to have to do a lot to get it place to live.

Just the initial, i want to message my wife to get my drink is an insult to wives everywhere, and an insult to men who would even consider not getting off their own butts to grab their own drink that they so desperately want. If you want something that bad.
Go get it yourself. We do not live in the 50's, 60's anymore. Men should not expect wives to wait on them hand and foot, just so they don't have to pause their stupid game or film.
