How to watch videos on the Xbox One?

I know this is a noobish question but I have a family video that is 35gb and it's in the mkv format. How can I watch it on the Xbox One? Does the Xbox One support NTFS? Pls any help is appreciated

How can I watch CRTV videos on my xbox? Why is it that YouTube isn't a problem, but these videos are? Is there another browser I can download that will let me watch them?

How to test 4k Ultra HD Video via Xbox One?

Does anybody know how I can watch a 4k YouTube or Vimeo Video on Xbox One? I do not have the choice on the YouTube app and on Internet Explorer I am not allowed to Switch to 4k?

Anyboy have any ideas how to watch 4k Videos on the xbox one?

I didn't try this but you might use the 'play to' function on your windows 7 media center or windows 8.1 system to stream the video to your Xbox. Currently you can only watch videos which came from dvd, bluray or Xbox video directly on the box

Oh so you can't watch any videos from an external source? Not even with the June update? Well thank you, I'll try this.

Nope, DLNA is heavily requested by the users but directly playing videos other that dvd, bluray, Xbox video is not supported at the moment

So then my all in one..XBox1, is unable to the simplest of tasks that even the Xbox before it could..well, there's progress for you. My immediate guess is that if this tidbit of info were made readily available to the public, they wouldn't be selling too
many. Instead you must do due diligence and try to discover if the all in one media entertainment center that you want to purchase will indeed play media. What a utter and complete load of crap. So...buy it from us....and we will allow you to watch it, really
XBox. MS! So we return the shitz box and keep the old one and simply buy w WD Media player which WILL support USB movie viewing! OR buy a PS4

The last post on this thread was in June 2014. A lot has changed in 11 months. The Xbox One will now happily play video from external devices in many formats (including MKV video) via external hard drives, Flash drives and from media servers.
